Every week we feature a new startup at Fundsup that forces a radical breakthrough. This time we chat with Patrick Wilson, Co-founder and CEO of OneTap.
Patrick, tell me a bit more about OneTap and how it distinguishes itself in the market?
OneTap is a unique SaaS platform that can help the website owner or webshop owner on all stages of the customer journey. As a site owner you distinguish three stages:
- The building stage,
- The expansion stage,
- The promotion stage.
As far as I know, all competitors in the market today only offer solutions for one or two of these stages. The OneTap platform uses smart automation in combination with a marketplace approach to creating a complete all-in-one solution for online success on all three stages.
For the end-user (site owner) the biggest benefit is to have a single point of contact for all website-related issues instead of communicating back and forth with different companies that benefit from time-consuming solutions because they charge an hourly rate.
For communication agencies or small website design agencies the biggest gain here is that they can focus on their area of expertise but serve bigger customers as well because the OneTap platform can complement their services (like hosting, security, support).

Can you tell me a bit more about your backgrounds?
The OneTap platform is created by Floris (Hacker) and me, Patrick (Hustler, Hipster). Before OneTap we had worked together for 2,5 years at different companies, creating big data dashboards, website and web applications. Floris is a full stack web developer with DevOps skills. I am a born entrepreneur – I started my first SaaS company during my studies in 2001 and successfully sold it in 2013.
Together we developed the OneTap platform out of our frustration within the web development sector. A shortage of good personnel on the one hand and a lot of monotonous and non-challenging technical work on the other. Combining expertise and knowledge with smart automation can disrupt the market.

What is the impact of your business?
We are creating an accessible ecosystem that makes it easier for everyone to achieve online success. We offer an all-in-one platform to create, manage and promote a website or a webshop faster & more affordable. We do that via smart automation, combining the best available options in the market and integrate marketplace functionality. Everyone can easily do it themselves or outsource the work via our platform to skilled professionals.
We use the opensource CMS WordPress because it’s the most popular CMS in the world. Nowadays more than 60% of the internet is built with WordPress. The possibilities are endless and the technology is of the highest quality. The best part is that it’s supplier independent, so you never have to start over if you want to change a design or add a special feature. A big advantage over suppliers such as Wix, Squarespace and Jimdo.

Where do you stand right now?
Currently, we are bootstrapped and have already realized various important milestones:
- We launched the OneTap deployment engine which can autonomously create and host a complete website or webshop in under an hour. To give you a little more perspective, an average developer and designer will need at least 1-2 days to do this manually.
- We launched the OneTap portal for customers (end-users) so that they can manage their accounts and work together on their website and webshop projects.
- We launched a product dedicated to end-user at https://onetap.online and we have already renewed the first yearly contracts.
We really like to move forward on scaling and promotion. And extend and automate our marketplace feature with even more high-quality partners (e.g. by connecting existing marketplaces).
What would be the ideal investor match?
At this time we are bootstrapped and developed everything ourselves. Now that the concept is proven (no churn), we want to raise funding in order to transform from bootstrap to a highly-scalable SaaS platform. We are looking for an investor who could help us realize just that. Ideally, someone that has an international network (outside The Netherlands), SaaS-related investments, SaaS focus or perhaps hands-on experience in a SaaS company. That would be of great value!
Best of luck with everything!
